An innovative agency collaboration secures a wide-ranging brief

Following an extensive tender process, a combined FleishmanHillard and Powerscourt team has been appointed by FTSE-100 listed company Landsec, one of the UK’s biggest real estate companies.

The wide-ranging mandate, spanning public affairs, issues management, campaigns and corporate communications, is shared between FleishmanHillard and Powerscourt as they join forces and create an innovative agency collaboration that combines the best of both firms for Landsec. The move follows the agencies’ previous success in working together to advise McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities.

The team will support Landsec as it delivers on its refreshed strategy, which focuses on three key pillars: central London offices, major retail destinations and mixed-use urban neighbourhoods across England. Landsec’s strategy is underpinned by capital discipline and a commitment to being a market leader on sustainability. Across all strands, it is focused on embodying what it means to be a modern landlord, offering a genuine partnership with an emphasis on creating value for all stakeholders, communities and society.

Jamie Robertson, partner at FleishmanHillard UK, commented on the appointment: “Landsec is uniquely positioned in the UK economy. It sits at the heart of the communities in which it invests, it creates opportunities for people across its portfolio and its commitment to leading its sector in sustainable development is compelling. We are excited to work with Landsec to tell its story, underpin its reputation as a leader inside and outside its industry and contribute to the evolution of this hugely impressive and progressive business. We believe strongly in the power of collaboration; working closely with our colleagues at Powerscourt, therefore, makes the work all the more rewarding.”

Justin Griffiths, partner and head of real estate at Powerscourt said of the decision: “We are exceptionally proud to have been appointed by Landsec. Briefs like this in the real estate sector only come up once every few years so we were determined to do everything possible to succeed. Working together with our friends at FleishmanHillard, we focused on thinking outside the box to deliver an innovative proposal to address a highly competitive brief. We very much look forward to working together.”

Sara Doggett, head of corporate affairs at Landsec, adds: “At Landsec, we believe our role is to actively create value. For our business, our stakeholders, the communities where we invest and society. Leading our industry on the issues that matter is part and parcel of that. To do so, we need to tell a clear story to all our stakeholders, engaging and driving forward opportunities that bring people together. The brief that we issued wasn’t a simple one and having two of London’s best agencies teaming up to offer us something completely different was a huge attraction and demonstrated exactly the kind of ambition and forward thinking we were looking for.”
