We asked design director, Jemima Compton about her experience working in the Business Development and Marketing team at FleishmanHillard UK, what she includes in her working from home ritual and her advice for others trying to get into the PR industry.

Hi Jemima! What has been your new work from home ritual?

Walking my dog 2/3 times a day and sometimes heading out for a picnic at lunchtime.

What new skill have you flexed in lockdown?

When lockdown first started, I went mad on decorating my flat, but ran out of things to paint so I rescued a dog.

What shows have you been binging on lately?

After a long day, I love easy meaningless comedy like The Office, Parks and Recreation, or Brooklyn 99. If I have more energy anything about crime or conspiracies!

What do you love about working at FH?

The constantly changing work, there’s always a new project, a new client. It’s fast-paced and exciting and I love that.

What’s the most valuable skill used in your role?

I think agility. Although I am physically very clumsy, I work quickly in an ever-changing environment with a lot of moving parts.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

Most days start with a meeting with a pitch team seeing how we can bring their ideas to life, creating something beautiful and impactful. Then its design, design, deadline!

How do you describe your job to your family?

I work miracles in PowerPoint

What’s your favourite part of your job?

The result, seeing teams happy with the final product and successful in the pitch.

What’s your advice to someone wanting to get into the industry?

New business is a whirlwind that’s so fun getting swept up in – the adrenaline junkie’s perfect desk job!

What’s your go-to karaoke tune?

Celine Dion – It’s All Coming Back To Me Now
